• What is a Charter School?

A charter school is an independently managed, non-religious, tuition-free public school that is open to all students and held accountable to the state that authorized it. Charter schools were created to provide public education choices for families, to encourage the competition that fuels innovation and change, to improve educational outcomes for students, and to promote academic and operational accountability for public schools.
